Description

Almond Joy Magic Cookie Bars are a deliciously layered dessert featuring a crunchy graham cracker crust topped with shredded coconut, semi-sweet chocolate chips, chopped almonds, and sweetened condensed milk. Baked to perfection, these bars offer a sweet and nutty flavor reminiscent of the classic Almond Joy candy bar, making them a perfect treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Toppings

  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped almonds
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare the baking dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Make the crust: In a mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs with melted butter, stirring until the mixture is evenly moistened. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to create an even crust layer.
  3. Add the toppings: Evenly sprinkle the shredded coconut over the crust. Follow with a layer of semi-sweet chocolate chips, then sprinkle the chopped almonds evenly on top.
  4. Pour condensed milk: Slowly pour the sweetened condensed milk over all the layered toppings, making sure it covers them evenly but doesn’t soak through the crust.
  5. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. The edges should turn golden brown, and the top should be lightly browned.
  6. Cool and serve: Remove the bars from the oven and let them cool completely in the pan before cutting into 24 squares. This cooling step helps the bars set properly for clean slicing.

Notes

  • For a twist, substitute dark chocolate chips for semi-sweet chocolate chips or drizzle melted chocolate over the bars before serving.
  • Store finished bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • For a firmer texture, refrigerate the bars and bring to room temperature before serving if desired.
