Ingredients
Scale
For the Crescent Rolls
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 8 breakfast sausage links (fully cooked)
Cheese Filling
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese (softened)
Toppings
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- Optional: 1/2 teaspoon everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds for topping
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
- Prepare Dough: Unroll the refrigerated crescent roll dough and separate it into 8 individual triangles on a clean surface.
- Mix Cheese Filling: In a small bowl, combine the shredded cheddar cheese with softened cream cheese, mixing until smooth and fully incorporated.
- Assemble Rolls: Spread a small amount of the cheese mixture on each crescent dough triangle, focusing towards the wide end. Place a fully cooked sausage link at the wide end and carefully roll the dough up towards the pointed tip, enclosing the sausage. Press the edges slightly to seal.
- Prepare for Baking: Place each roll seam-side down onto the prepared baking sheet to help keep them closed during baking.
- Apply Egg Wash and Season: Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg to achieve a golden, shiny crust. Sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds if using.
- Bake: Bake the crescent rolls in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they are puffed up and golden brown on top.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack before serving to allow the filling to set and prevent burns.
Notes
- You can substitute the sausage links with crumbled cooked sausage or bacon bits for a different texture and flavor.
- These rolls freeze well; to reheat, warm them in the oven or air fryer until heated through for a quick and convenient breakfast.
