Description

These Breakfast Sausage Crescent Rolls are a delicious and easy-to-make morning treat featuring fully cooked sausage links wrapped in buttery crescent dough, filled with a creamy cheddar and cream cheese mixture. Perfectly baked to golden perfection, they make a hearty breakfast or snack that’s quick to prepare and customizable with optional toppings.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crescent Rolls

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 breakfast sausage links (fully cooked)

Cheese Filling

  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese (softened)

Toppings

  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
  2. Prepare Dough: Unroll the refrigerated crescent roll dough and separate it into 8 individual triangles on a clean surface.
  3. Mix Cheese Filling: In a small bowl, combine the shredded cheddar cheese with softened cream cheese, mixing until smooth and fully incorporated.
  4. Assemble Rolls: Spread a small amount of the cheese mixture on each crescent dough triangle, focusing towards the wide end. Place a fully cooked sausage link at the wide end and carefully roll the dough up towards the pointed tip, enclosing the sausage. Press the edges slightly to seal.
  5. Prepare for Baking: Place each roll seam-side down onto the prepared baking sheet to help keep them closed during baking.
  6. Apply Egg Wash and Season: Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg to achieve a golden, shiny crust. Sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds if using.
  7. Bake: Bake the crescent rolls in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they are puffed up and golden brown on top.
  8. Cool and Serve: Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack before serving to allow the filling to set and prevent burns.

Notes

  • You can substitute the sausage links with crumbled cooked sausage or bacon bits for a different texture and flavor.
  • These rolls freeze well; to reheat, warm them in the oven or air fryer until heated through for a quick and convenient breakfast.
