Description

These Chicken and Waffle Sliders are a delightful combination of crispy breaded chicken wings sandwiched between mini waffles with a hint of savory bacon jam and a drizzle of sweet maple syrup. Perfect as a fun appetizer or party snack, these bite-sized sliders blend sweet and savory flavors with a satisfying crunch.

Ingredients

Scale

Waffles

  • 2 cups pancake and waffle mix

Chicken

  • 16 fully cooked breaded, boneless chicken wings (frozen)

Condiments

  • 4 teaspoons bacon jam
  • ¼ cup maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Prepare Waffle Batter: Follow the package directions specifically for making waffles using the pancake and waffle mix to prepare your batter.
  2. Cook Mini Waffles: Heat a waffle bite maker and cook the batter into mini waffles until they are golden brown. You will need about 32 mini waffles in total.
  3. Arrange Waffles: Remove the waffles from the maker, separate them into small circular pieces, and place all on a large serving plate.
  4. Add Bacon Jam: Spread ¼ teaspoon of bacon jam evenly over 16 of the mini waffles. This adds a savory, slightly sweet layer to the sliders.
  5. Heat Chicken Wings: Heat the fully cooked breaded chicken wings until hot. The preferred method is air frying for 4-5 minutes on each side, but other heating methods are fine as long as the temperature reaches 165°F internally.
  6. Assemble Sliders: Place one hot chicken wing on top of each jam-spread mini waffle, then top with another mini waffle without jam to form the slider.
  7. Secure Sliders: Insert a cocktail pick or long toothpick through each slider to hold the layers firmly together.
  8. Repeat Assembly: Continue assembling the remaining sliders following the same process until all 16 sliders are made.
  9. Serve with Maple Syrup: Just before serving, pour the maple syrup evenly over all the sliders, making sure some syrup fills the waffle holes on top for added sweetness.

Notes

  • You can use any heating method for the chicken wings, but ensure they are thoroughly heated to 165°F.
  • Mini waffle makers or waffle bite makers work best to create the perfect size for sliders.
  • For a spicier kick, add a dash of hot sauce to the bacon jam or drizzle over the sliders before serving.
  • These sliders are best served fresh to maintain the crispiness of the waffles and chicken.
  • Make extra mini waffles as backups in case some break or need replacing during assembly.
