Description

Delicious and wholesome Chocolate Chip Banana Bars made with ripe bananas, peanut butter, and rolled oats. Perfectly sweetened with maple syrup and studded with chocolate chips, these bars are a healthy snack or breakfast option that comes together easily and bakes to a soft, chewy texture.

Ingredients

Scale

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Add-ins

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas thoroughly and blend in the peanut butter, maple syrup, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: Stir the rolled oats, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt into the banana mixture until everything is evenly incorporated.
  4. Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold the chocolate chips into the batter to distribute them evenly throughout.
  5. Prepare to Bake: Pour the batter into the greased baking pan, spreading it out evenly with a spatula.
  6. Bake: Place the pan in the oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the bars turn golden brown and are set in the center when tested with a toothpick.
  7. Cool and Slice: Remove from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into 12 bars for serving.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for maximum sweetness and moisture.
  • Peanut butter can be substituted with almond butter or other nut butters if preferred.
  • For a nut-free version, use sunflower seed butter and ensure oats are gluten-free if needed.
  • Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
  • These bars also freeze well for longer storage—wrap individually or in portions.
