Description

These festive Christmas White Chocolate-Dipped Sugar Wafers are a simple and delightful holiday treat. Crisp sugar wafer cookies are partially dipped in creamy melted white candy coating and decorated with colorful red, green, and white sprinkles, adding a cheerful touch to your holiday dessert table. No baking is required, making this recipe quick and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookies

  • 2 (8 oz. or 9 oz.) packages sugar wafer cookies (approximately 48 cookies total)

Coating

  • 1 (1 lb.) package white candy melts or 1 (24 oz.) package white bark coating
  • 1 tbsp shortening

Decorations

  • Assorted red, green, and white sprinkles (e.g., confetti sprinkles, nonpareils, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the white chocolate coating: Combine the white candy melts or bark coating with the shortening in a microwave-safe bowl. Melt according to package directions, usually in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
  2. Dip the sugar wafers: Holding each sugar wafer cookie, dip about three-quarters of it into the melted white candy coating. Allow any excess coating to drip back into the bowl to avoid clumps.
  3. Decorate with sprinkles: Immediately after dipping, sprinkle the coated portion with your choice of festive holiday sprinkles to add color and texture.
  4. Set the coated cookies: Place the dipped and sprinkled wafers onto wax paper. Let them sit at room temperature until the white chocolate coating is completely set and hardened.
  5. Repeat and store: Continue the dipping and decorating process with the remaining sugar wafers. Once all are set, store the cookies in an airtight container to keep fresh for up to two weeks.

Notes

  • You can substitute shortening with coconut oil if preferred to help smooth the coating.
  • Ensure the coating is completely set before stacking cookies to prevent sticking.
  • Use wax paper or parchment paper to avoid cookies sticking to the surface while drying.
  • Customize sprinkles for different holidays or themes by choosing alternative colors or designs.
  • If the coating thickens as it cools, gently rewarm in short microwave bursts to maintain a smooth dipping consistency.
