Ingredients
Scale
Fruit
- 2 large ripe peaches, peeled and sliced into 8 wedges each
Dough
- 1 (8-ounce) can refrigerated crescent roll dough
Sauce
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup peach soda (or lemon-lime soda)
Optional Serving
- Vanilla ice cream
Instructions
- Prepare the Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Assemble the Dumplings: Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into 8 triangles. Place one peach wedge at the wide end of each triangle and roll it up toward the point, fully enclosing the peach wedge inside. Arrange the rolled dumplings evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
- Add Sauce and Soda: Pour the butter and sugar mixture evenly over the dumplings in the baking dish. Carefully pour the peach soda around the edges of the pan, avoiding pouring directly on top of the dumplings to ensure even cooking.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the dumplings turn golden brown and the sauce is bubbly and caramelized.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the dumplings to cool slightly before serving. For an extra special touch, serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
- Fresh peaches provide the best flavor and texture, but canned or frozen peaches (thawed and drained) can be used as alternatives.
- For a seasonal variation, substitute peach wedges with apple slices for a comforting autumn-inspired dessert.
- Use peach soda for authentic peach flavor; lemon-lime soda works well as a substitute, adding sweetness and a bit of fizz.
- To prevent dough from sticking, make sure to grease the baking dish thoroughly.
