Ingredients
Scale
Base Ingredients
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Gelatin Mixture
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) unflavored gelatin
- 3 tablespoons cold water
Serving Suggestions
- Fresh berries or fruit compote for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Bloom the Gelatin: In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water and let it bloom for 5–10 minutes until it becomes spongy and absorbs the liquid.
- Heat Cream Mixture: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and sugar. Stir gently until the sugar fully dissolves and the mixture is hot but not boiling. Then, remove from heat.
- Dissolve Gelatin: Stir the bloomed gelatin into the warm cream mixture until it is completely dissolved. Add the vanilla extract and stir gently to combine.
- Pour and Chill: Pour the mixture evenly into 6 lightly greased ramekins or small cups. Let cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until fully set.
- Serve: To unmold, briefly dip ramekins in warm water to loosen the panna cotta, then invert onto serving plates. Serve with fresh berries, fruit compote, or a drizzle of honey for added flavor.
Notes
- You can infuse the cream with flavors like lavender, coffee, or citrus zest for delicious variations.
- For a dairy-free version, substitute the heavy cream and whole milk with coconut cream and coconut milk.
