These Crispy Cheeseburger Egg Rolls combine all the delicious flavors of a classic cheeseburger wrapped in a golden, crunchy egg roll wrapper. Perfect as an appetizer or snack, they feature seasoned ground beef, melted cheddar cheese, tangy pickles, and a hint of ketchup and mustard for that iconic cheeseburger taste. Quickly fried to crispy perfection, these egg rolls are sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup pickles, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Assembly

  • 8 egg roll wrappers
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef and onions: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef along with the diced onions until the beef is fully browned and the onions are soft and translucent. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  2. Mix the filling: Remove the skillet from heat. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, finely chopped pickles, ketchup, mustard, garlic powder, and season with salt and pepper to taste, mixing everything thoroughly.
  3. Prepare the egg roll wrappers: Lay one egg roll wrapper flat on a clean, dry surface. Spoon about 2 to 3 tablespoons of the beef mixture near one corner of the wrapper.
  4. Wrap and seal: Fold in the sides of the wrapper over the filling and roll it up tightly from the corner with the filling, sealing the edge with a little water to ensure it stays closed during frying.
  5. Repeat wrapping: Repeat the rolling and sealing process with the remaining egg roll wrappers and beef filling until all are assembled.
  6. Heat the oil: In a deep skillet or a deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use enough oil to submerge the egg rolls for even frying.
  7. Fry the egg rolls: Fry the egg rolls in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook each batch for 3 to 4 minutes or until the egg rolls are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  8. Drain and serve: Remove the egg rolls from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve hot with ketchup or your preferred dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Be careful not to overfill the egg rolls to prevent them from bursting while frying.
  • Use fresh vegetable oil heated to the proper temperature for best crispiness.
  • For a twist, try adding diced jalapeños or a little hot sauce to the filling.
  • Leftover egg rolls can be reheated in an air fryer or oven to regain crispiness.
  • Ensure the egg rolls are sealed properly to avoid oil leakage during frying.
