Description

Easter Dirt Cake is a festive, no-bake dessert perfect for spring celebrations. It combines crushed Oreos, creamy vanilla pudding, and fluffy whipped topping, layered and decorated with colorful Easter candies like Peeps, Robin eggs, and sprinkles for a fun and delightful treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 package Oreos (about 36 cookies)

Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 16 oz cool whip
  • 2 boxes instant vanilla pudding (3.3 oz each)
  • 3 cups milk

Toppings

  • Easter candy (Peeps, Robin eggs, and sprinkles as preferred)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Oreo Crust: Crush approximately two-thirds of the Oreo package until fine crumbs form. Spread the crushed Oreos evenly in the bottom of a 9×13 inch pan and set aside.
  2. Mix Cream Cheese Base: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together using a handheld mixer until smooth and creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and then fold in the cool whip gently to maintain fluffiness. Set this mixture aside.
  3. Make Pudding Mixture: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and instant vanilla pudding mixes until thickened. Once set, fold this pudding mixture carefully into the cream cheese mixture, combining until smooth and uniform.
  4. Assemble Layers: Pour the cream cheese and pudding mixture evenly over the Oreo crumb base in the pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  5. Add Oreo Topping: Take the remaining crushed Oreos and sprinkle them evenly over the top layer of pudding mixture to create a dirt-like appearance.
  6. Chill: Refrigerate the completed dessert for a minimum of 3 hours to allow it to set and flavors to meld beautifully.
  7. Decorate and Serve: Just before serving, remove the dessert from the fridge and decorate the top with Easter candies such as Peeps, Robin eggs, and colorful sprinkles to achieve a festive look.

Notes

  • Ensure cream cheese and butter are fully softened to avoid lumps in the mixture.
  • For a firmer texture, chill overnight.
  • Use full-fat cool whip for the best creamy texture.
  • The dessert is best served chilled but can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Feel free to customize the toppings with your favorite seasonal candies for added fun and color.
