This Easy Creamy Cajun Chicken Pasta is a quick and flavorful dish combining tender Cajun-spiced chicken with a luscious creamy sauce, Parmesan cheese, and perfectly cooked penne pasta. Ideal for a comforting weeknight meal ready in just 25 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
Chicken & Seasoning
- 2 chicken breasts, sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Pasta & Sauce
- 8 oz penne pasta
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Cook the pasta: Cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
- Cook the chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season the sliced chicken breasts evenly with Cajun seasoning. Cook the chicken for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until both sides are golden brown and the chicken is cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Make the sauce: In the same skillet, pour in the heavy cream, chicken broth, and grated Parmesan cheese. Stir continuously to combine and let the mixture simmer for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Combine pasta and chicken: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet along with the drained penne pasta. Toss everything together thoroughly so the pasta and chicken are well coated with the creamy Cajun sauce.
- Season and serve: Taste and adjust the seasoning by adding salt and pepper as desired. Serve the creamy Cajun chicken pasta immediately while hot.
Notes
- Use freshly grated Parmesan for best flavor and smoother sauce texture.
- For a spicier kick, increase the amount of Cajun seasoning.
- This dish pairs well with a simple green salad or steamed vegetables.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
