Delicious Grilled Surf & Turf Skewers combine succulent beef tenderloin cubes and juicy large shrimp, seasoned with smoked paprika and grilled to perfection. Served with a vibrant and tangy homemade chimichurri sauce, this recipe is perfect for a flavorful and impressive meal that’s sure to please any crowd.

Ingredients

Scale

Surf & Turf Skewers

  • 1 lb beef tenderloin or sirloin, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for shrimp)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (for shrimp)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Chimichurri Sauce

  • 1 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, for extra brightness)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chimichurri Sauce: In a bowl, combine the chopped parsley, minced garlic, red wine vinegar, olive oil, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine. Optionally, add lemon juice for a fresh brightness. Let the sauce sit for at least 15-20 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  2. Marinate the Beef and Shrimp: Drizzle olive oil over the shrimp in a separate bowl. Season with smoked paprika, salt, and pepper; toss to coat evenly. Season the beef cubes with salt and pepper. Optionally marinate beef with olive oil, garlic, and herbs for about an hour before grilling.
  3. Skewer the Ingredients: Thread beef cubes and shrimp alternately onto skewers. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes before use to prevent burning.
  4. Grill the Skewers: Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Place skewers on grill. Cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Cook beef for 4-5 minutes per side, or to preferred doneness. Turn with tongs for even cooking.
  5. Serve: Remove skewers from heat and drizzle chimichurri sauce over them or serve sauce on the side for dipping. Serve hot with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

  • Soaking wooden skewers prevents them from burning on the grill.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes in the chimichurri to control spiciness.
  • Marinating beef is optional but enhances flavor and tenderness.
  • Ensure shrimp is cooked thoroughly to avoid any seafood safety issues.
  • Serve with grilled vegetables, rice, or fresh salad for a complete meal.
