Description

Honey Garlic Salmon Bites are a quick and flavorful dish featuring tender salmon cubes seasoned with a blend of spices and coated in a sticky, sweet, and tangy honey garlic sauce with a hint of heat from sriracha. Perfect for a speedy weeknight meal, this recipe uses a simple skillet cooking method to achieve crispy edges and a succulent interior.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon and Seasoning

  • 1 pound salmon
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha

Instructions

  1. Prepare the spice mix: In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, paprika, kosher salt, chili powder, and onion powder. Set aside the spice blend for coating the salmon.
  2. Mix the sauce: In a separate bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the honey, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and sriracha until well combined. This will be the glaze for the salmon bites.
  3. Preheat the skillet: Heat a large skillet, preferably a 12-inch cast iron, over medium-high heat to ensure a good sear on the salmon.
  4. Prepare the salmon: On a cutting board, carefully remove the skin from the salmon using a knife if needed, then discard the skin. Cut the salmon into 1-inch cubes for bite-sized pieces.
  5. Season the salmon: Place the salmon cubes in a mixing bowl and sprinkle the prepared spice blend over them. Toss gently to coat the pieces evenly with the spices.
  6. Cook the salmon: Add the coconut oil to the hot skillet. Spread the salmon cubes in one layer in the skillet and cook for 1 minute without moving to let them sear nicely.
  7. Add sauce and finish cooking: Flip the salmon pieces over and immediately pour the honey garlic sauce over them. Cook for another minute, then gently move the salmon around in the skillet to flip or coat them fully in the sauce. Continue cooking for 60 to 90 seconds until the sauce thickens slightly and the salmon is cooked through.
  8. Rest before serving: Remove the skillet from heat and let it sit for 2 to 3 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken further and the flavors to meld before serving the salmon bites.

Notes

  • To ensure even cooking, cut salmon into uniform 1-inch cubes.
  • Use a cast-iron skillet for best searing results, but any heavy-bottomed skillet will work.
  • Adjust sriracha amount according to your preferred spice level.
  • If you prefer less oil, substitute coconut oil with a light cooking spray or olive oil.
  • Serve immediately after resting for best texture and flavor.
  • Gluten-free and paleo-friendly as long as honey is acceptable in your diet.
