Description

This Keto Chocolate Mousse is a rich, creamy, and low-carb dessert perfect for satisfying your chocolate cravings while staying within ketogenic dietary guidelines. Made with heavy cream or full-fat coconut milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, and a keto-friendly sweetener, this mousse is quick to prepare and can be enjoyed immediately or chilled for a firmer texture.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream or 1 can full-fat coconut milk (chilled)

Chocolate

  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp Dutch-process cocoa powder (or extra regular cocoa powder)

Sweetener and Flavorings

  • ¼ cup sweetener of choice (monk fruit, erythritol, or allulose)
  • Optional: ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
  • Optional: ¼ tsp instant coffee (for enhanced chocolate flavor)

Instructions

  1. Chill the ingredients: Refrigerate the can of coconut milk overnight if using, then scoop out only the thick cream part. Also, chill the mixing bowl to ensure the cream whips up better.
  2. Whip the cream: Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, beat the heavy cream or coconut cream until stiff peaks form. This means the cream will hold its shape firmly when the beaters are lifted.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients: Gently fold in the unsweetened cocoa powder, Dutch-process cocoa powder, sweetener, vanilla extract, and instant coffee (if using), mixing until the mousse is smooth and fluffy.
  4. Serve and enjoy: Spoon the mousse into serving dishes and enjoy immediately for a soft texture, or chill in the refrigerator for a firmer mousse before serving.

Notes

  • For best texture, chill the mixing bowl and ingredients well before whipping.
  • Instant coffee is optional but enhances the chocolate flavor without adding coffee taste.
  • You can substitute heavy cream with full-fat coconut milk to make it dairy-free and vegan-friendly.
  • Adjust sweetness to taste based on the sweetener used.
  • If you chill the mousse for a longer period, it will become firmer and more dessert-like.
