Description

Delight in these fun and colorful Kool-Aid Gummy Treats, perfect for a sweet snack or party favor. Made with just a few simple ingredients including your favorite Kool-Aid flavors and gelatin, these homemade gummies are easy to prepare and customizable to any flavor preference. The result is a chewy, flavorful treat with a vibrant color and optional sparkle for added fun.

Ingredients

Scale

Gummy Base

  • 2 packets (0.13 oz each) of your favorite Kool-Aid flavors
  • 3 tablespoons unflavored gelatin
  • ½ cup cold water
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • â…“ cup light corn syrup

Additional

  • Gummy bear molds
  • (Optional) Edible shimmer dust for a sparkling effect

Instructions

  1. Prepare Gelatin Mixture: In a small bowl, pour ½ cup cold water and sprinkle 3 tablespoons of unflavored gelatin over it. Let it bloom for about 5 minutes until the gelatin absorbs the water and becomes thickened.
  2. Combine Ingredients in Saucepan: In a medium saucepan, combine 1 ½ cups granulated sugar, ⅓ cup light corn syrup, and the 2 packets of Kool-Aid powder. Stir the dry ingredients together to distribute the flavor evenly.
  3. Heat and Stir: Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir continuously until the sugar dissolves completely and the mixture reaches a gentle boil. Allow it to boil for about 1-2 minutes while continuing to stir, ensuring it doesn’t burn.
  4. Add Gelatin Mixture: Remove the saucepan from heat. Add the bloomed gelatin mixture to the hot Kool-Aid syrup. Stir thoroughly until the gelatin is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth with no lumps.
  5. Pour into Molds: Carefully pour the liquid gummy mixture into your gummy bear molds or any silicone molds of choice. Fill each cavity to the top for uniformly sized gummies.
  6. Chill to Set: Place the filled molds in the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours, or until gummies are completely firm and easily release from the molds.
  7. Optional Decoration: If desired, sprinkle the gummies with edible shimmer dust for a sparkling finish once they are set.
  8. Enjoy and Store: Remove the gummies from molds and enjoy immediately, or store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week to maintain freshness and chewiness.

Notes

  • Ensure the gelatin is fully dissolved for a smooth gummy texture without graininess.
  • Adjust the Kool-Aid flavor packets to create unique flavor combinations or intensity.
  • Use silicone molds for easy removal of gummies without tearing.
  • Store gummies in the refrigerator to prevent them from becoming sticky or melting.
  • For a less sweet version, reduce sugar slightly but note texture changes may occur.
