- ½ cup white sugar

- 3 tablespoons white sugar (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Layer dough and cream cheese mixture: Unroll one package of crescent roll dough and press it evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, lemon zest, lemon juice, and ½ cup white sugar. Spread this creamy lemon mixture evenly over the dough layer in the pan.
- Top with second dough layer and add topping: Unroll the second package of crescent roll dough and lay it gently over the cream cheese layer. Brush the top layer with the melted butter. Mix 3 tablespoons of white sugar with a small amount of lemon zest, then sprinkle this sugar-zest mixture evenly over the buttered dough.
- Bake the bars: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bars are set. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely in the pan.
- Chill and serve: After cooling, refrigerate the bars for at least 2 hours to let them firm up before cutting into 24 squares. Serve chilled for the best flavor and texture.
