Ingredients
Scale
Fries
- 1 lb frozen French fries or hand-cut potatoes
Beef Topping
- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 2 tablespoons Nduja (spicy spreadable pork sausage)
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Toppings and Garnish
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup sour cream (optional)
- 2 tablespoons chopped chives or green onions
- 1 tablespoon pickled jalapeños (optional)
Instructions
- Cook Fries: Cook the frozen French fries according to the package instructions or bake them at 425°F (220°C) until they turn golden and crispy. This creates a crispy base for the toppings.
- Brown the Beef: While the fries are cooking, heat a skillet over medium heat and brown the ground beef until it is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat to keep the topping from becoming greasy.
- Add Nduja and Seasonings: Stir in the Nduja, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper into the browned beef. Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes until the Nduja is fully melted and incorporated, infusing the beef with its spicy flavor.
- Arrange Fries on Baking Dish: Once the fries are cooked, spread them out evenly on an oven-safe dish or tray to prepare for layering.
- Add Beef and Cheese: Top the fries evenly with the Nduja beef mixture followed by a generous layer of shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese.
- Broil to Melt Cheese: Return the dish to the oven and broil for 2–3 minutes or until the cheese has fully melted and is bubbly. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
- Garnish: Remove from oven and garnish the loaded fries with sour cream, chopped chives or green onions, and jalapeños if using, adding freshness and extra flavor.
- Serve Immediately: Serve the Nduja Beef Loaded Fries hot and enjoy right away for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- You can use either frozen fries or hand-cut potatoes depending on your preference.
- Adjust the amount of Nduja to control the spiciness of the beef topping.
- For a milder version, omit the pickled jalapeños.
- Broiling times may vary depending on your oven, so keep an eye on the cheese to avoid burning.
- Leftovers can be reheated in an oven to maintain crispiness.
