Description

These Sausage Cheese Ball Biscuit Cups combine savory breakfast sausage with creamy cheddar cheese, all baked inside flaky biscuit dough to create a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or breakfast treat. Perfectly golden and bubbling with cheesy sausage goodness, they’re great for brunches, parties, or a comforting morning meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Sausage Filling

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

Biscuit Cups

  • 1 (16 oz) can refrigerated biscuit dough (8 large biscuits)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare muffin tin: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a standard muffin tin to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook sausage: Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain any excess grease once done.
  3. Make filling mixture: Transfer the cooked sausage to a mixing bowl. Add the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is completely combined.
  4. Prepare biscuit cups: Separate each biscuit and flatten it into approximately a 4-inch round. Press each flattened biscuit into the bottom and up the sides of each muffin cup, forming a cup to hold the filling.
  5. Fill biscuit cups: Evenly spoon the sausage and cheese mixture into the biscuit cups, filling each one generously.
  6. Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 15–18 minutes or until the biscuits turn golden brown and the filling is bubbly and hot.
  7. Cool and garnish: Allow the biscuit cups to cool slightly before carefully removing them from the pan. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • These biscuit cups can be made ahead of time and reheated in the oven or air fryer for convenience.
  • For extra heat, add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes to the sausage mixture.
  • Try swapping the breakfast sausage for maple sausage for a sweet-savory flavor twist.
