Ingredients
Scale
Sausage Filling
- 1 lb breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
Biscuit Cups
- 1 (16 oz) can refrigerated biscuit dough (8 large biscuits)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare muffin tin: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a standard muffin tin to prevent sticking.
- Cook sausage: Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain any excess grease once done.
- Make filling mixture: Transfer the cooked sausage to a mixing bowl. Add the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is completely combined.
- Prepare biscuit cups: Separate each biscuit and flatten it into approximately a 4-inch round. Press each flattened biscuit into the bottom and up the sides of each muffin cup, forming a cup to hold the filling.
- Fill biscuit cups: Evenly spoon the sausage and cheese mixture into the biscuit cups, filling each one generously.
- Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 15–18 minutes or until the biscuits turn golden brown and the filling is bubbly and hot.
- Cool and garnish: Allow the biscuit cups to cool slightly before carefully removing them from the pan. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
- These biscuit cups can be made ahead of time and reheated in the oven or air fryer for convenience.
- For extra heat, add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes to the sausage mixture.
- Try swapping the breakfast sausage for maple sausage for a sweet-savory flavor twist.
