Description

This easy and flavorful stir fry sauce recipe combines savory soy sauce with sweet honey, zesty rice vinegar, and aromatic garlic and ginger. Perfect for adding a delicious punch to vegetables, chicken, beef, shrimp, or tofu, this sauce can be quickly prepared and simmered for a perfect glaze. The option to thicken with cornstarch makes it versatile for any stir-fry dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Sauce Ingredients

  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

Thickening (Optional)

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon cold water

Instructions

  1. Combine Sauce Ingredients: In a small bowl or jar, whisk together the low-sodium soy sauce, water, honey or brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated fresh ginger until fully blended.
  2. Prepare Cornstarch Slurry (Optional): If a thicker sauce is desired, mix the cornstarch and cold water in a separate small bowl to make a slurry, then whisk this mixture into the prepared sauce.
  3. Simmer the Sauce: Add the sauce to your stir-fry during the last few minutes of cooking. Allow it to simmer over medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring occasionally until it is heated through and slightly thickened.

Notes

  • This sauce pairs well with vegetables, chicken, beef, shrimp, or tofu.
  • Store unused sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • For a spicy variation, add a dash of sriracha or red pepper flakes before simmering.
