Ingredients
Scale
Donut Batter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 large egg (room temperature)
- ½ cup whole milk
- ¼ cup melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh strawberries (chopped)
Glaze
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan thoroughly to prevent sticking.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- Combine wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk melted butter, egg, whole milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and evenly mixed.
- Combine wet and dry: Gently fold the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix to keep the donuts light.
- Add strawberries: Fold in the chopped fresh strawberries evenly throughout the batter.
- Fill donut pan: Spoon the batter into the greased donut pan cavities, filling each about ¾ full to allow room for rising.
- Bake donuts: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the donuts are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool donuts: Allow the donuts to cool slightly in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before glazing.
- Prepare glaze and finish: In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze or drizzle the glaze over the top and let set before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the egg is at room temperature for better batter consistency.
- Do not overmix the batter to avoid dense donuts.
- Use fresh ripe strawberries for the best flavor and moisture.
- Allow donuts to cool completely before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting off.
- Store donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
