Description

This recipe delivers the best broiled lobster tails with a rich, buttery flavor enhanced by a smoky and slightly spicy seasoning blend. Perfect for a quick gourmet seafood dinner, these lobster tails are broiled to juicy perfection in about 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Seafood

  • 2 Lobster tails (about 6 oz each)

Seasoning & Butter

  • 1 1/2 tablespoon butter (divided)
  • Pinch Celtic sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper

Optional Garnish

  • Lemon wedges (for serving and to place under lobster meat)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Broiler: Preheat your oven broiler to high heat to ensure the lobster tails cook quickly and evenly.
  2. Prepare Lobster Tails: Place the lobster tails on a baking sheet or an oven-safe dish.
  3. Cut Shell: Using sharp kitchen scissors or a knife, carefully cut down the top of the lobster shell towards the tail tip, avoiding cutting the meat. Remove the vein and any grit if necessary.
  4. Expose Meat: Gently pull the shell down so the lobster meat appears to be sitting on top of the shell and open.
  5. Insert Lemon Wedges: For presentation and extra flavor, slide lemon wedges underneath the lobster meat between the meat and the tail shell.
  6. Mix Spices: In a small bowl, combine the Celtic sea salt, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and white pepper.
  7. Season Lobster: Sprinkle the spice mixture evenly over the exposed lobster meat.
  8. Add Butter: Place small pats of butter along the lobster tail meat to enhance flavor and moisture.
  9. Cook Lobster: Place the baking sheet on an upper middle rack of the oven and broil until the lobster meat is opaque and white, approximately 8-10 minutes.
  10. Serve: Remove the lobster tails from the oven and serve immediately with drawn butter for dipping.

Notes

  • Be careful when cutting the lobster shell to avoid cutting the meat.
  • If desired, add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice before serving for extra brightness.
  • Use clarified butter for a cleaner, richer flavor when serving as drawn butter.
  • Broiler heat settings can vary, so keep a close eye on the lobster to avoid overcooking.
  • For larger lobster tails, increase cooking time by a few minutes and check for doneness.
